Michigan State Spartan Marching Band Field Trip

Each Fall 6th grade band members have the ability to head to MSU to eat ice cream at the dairy store and observe a rehearsal of the nationally known Spartan Marching Band (SMB). The SMB is one of the oldest collegiate marching bands having been founded by Civil War Veterans in 1870. We also generally have several Brighton High Alums in the band. Attending the band rehearsal gives the students a view into a different type of band and a different style of rehearsal from what they experience in class. It also is a nice break and reward for those students engaged in the extra work of learning an instrument. Oh, and the ice cream is awesome too!!
