There are several ways in which to procure an instrument.
Rental Night The most common one is to attend the Instrument Rental Night which is held in the last week of September. At this event there are two music companies present to inform you about their rental programs, allow you to purchase supplies or accessories etc. We work with Marshall Music and Schafer's House of Music. These two companies have a long time relationship with our band program and they are companies that we trust to do the best for our band students. They only rent the instruments that we recommend so the quality is good. Both companies offer insurance programs to cover repairs and periodic maintenance. They even offer replacement in the event that an instrument is stolen (extremely rare) or damaged beyond repair by someone other than the student.
Instruments already owned by family, friends, relatives As long as the student is assigned the instrument it is completely acceptable to use an instrument that is already owned.
Instruments from other sources There are other ways to get instruments as well such as online, Craigslist, etc. Sometimes there are great deals out there but buyer beware. If you see a deal that is too good to be true it may well be too good to be true. A quality instrument goes a long way to help a student to be successful!
Instruments sold at Department Stores or stores such as Sam's Club, Costco etc. Are not recommended. While the price looks great they are often poorly built and not repairable by most instrument repair stores.
School Owned Instruments There are school owned instruments available for any of the instruments we offer in band. More information on these available elsewhere on this site.
